This guide will show you how to create Groups within the Rocketseed Hierarchy. Groups can be created in three ways; Manually, Via File Import or Via Rocketseed’s Active Directory Sync. The file import and Active Directory Sync methods will be covered in other documents.
Groups are used to enable you to create a structure or hierarchy within the Rocketseed Application. This allows you to manage specific branding and update signatures and disclaimers in a centralised place rather than having to make changes to individual records.
These groups house the records for all of the senders within the organisation. These groups can be set up manually, via spreadsheet import or using the Rocketseed Active Directory Sync API.
These groups house the email addresses of all the people with whom your senders communicate. These addresses may be organised into groups to allow for specific branding to be applied should you wish to target any of the email recipients directly.
Sender email addresses are housed in the Auto Created Senders group if they are sending email through the Rocketseed server using a registered account domain and authentication method but have not yet been created in the Sender Groups either manually, via import or AD Sync.
Receiver email addresses are housed in the Auto Created Receivers group as soon as someone within the organisation sends them an email. These email addresses are then captured in the Auto Created Receivers group and mail correspondence between any person within the organisation and the specific receiver email address is reported upon.
Domains are a group of receiver email addresses using the same email domain (e.g. @domain.com). This allows you to segment the receiver database by adding a domain rather than having to manually add each recipient address for that domain (e.g. bob@domain.com).
Using the left toolbar, navigate to the Sender’s Section and select the "Add Group" from the hamburger menu of the parent group as shown below.
This will open an “Add Sender Group Page” with an entry box for your group’s new name and will have a “Save Sender Group” button that will allow you to save your new sender group to the hierarchy.
The page will then refresh showing your new group in the hierarchy.
